Manager of two ODA-funded hygiene and transport projects changed
The HCM City government appointed new managers for two ODA-funded
projects to replace Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Tin who is studying abroad.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal�s People�s Committee
Nguyen Thanh Tai will be in charge of the East-West Highway project while Vice
Chairman Nguyen Trung Tin will manage the water environment improvement project
for the basin of Tau Hu, Ben Nghe, Doi and Te canals.
Both projects use ODA loans of the Japan Bank for International
The VND9.86-trillion East-West Highway is 21.89 kilometers long
and connects National Highway 1A in Binh Chanh District and Hanoi Highway in
District 2. Construction began in January 2005 and is scheduled for completion
The water environment improvement project requires an estimated
capital of VND4.16 trillion. Its first phase was implemented from 2001 to 2006
and the second phase is from 2006 to 2010.
Once completed, the project will reduce flooding and improve
hygienic conditions for people living in districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, Tan
Binh, Binh Thanh and Binh Chanh.
