City to strengthen fight against
corruption and wastefulness
The Chairman of the HCM City
Peoples Committee Le Hoang Quan assigned competent agencies to boost the fight
against corruption and wastefulness.
Competent agencies must
regularly publicize information to assist civil servants and staff in fighting
against corruption and wastefulness, Quan said at a meeting on July 18. The
meeting was to review
the citys anti-corruption and anti-wastefulness activities in the first six
months of 2008 and discuss plans for the remaining months.
Quan, who is head of the HCM
City Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Wastefulness, also ordered
relevant agencies to send reports on their activities against corruption and
wastefulness in the second half to the city government in August.
According to a report of the
committee, competent agencies made 192 inspections in the first six months of
2008 and discovered wrongdoings causing a loss of VND21.9 billion and over 5,300
square meters of land. They proposed to take back VND20.5 billion and over 900
square meters of land, reprimanded 50 individuals and transfer two cases of
corruption to an investigation agency.
