City not to build underground parking lot on Nguyen Hue Street

The HCM City government has decided to build an underground parking lot along Ton Duc Thang Street, replacing the planned one on Nguyen Hue Street as the latter location is unsuitable.

The zoning of an underground parking lot on Nguyen Hue Street will attract more vehicles to the area while in the long term, HCM City has plan to turn a number of streets in the downtown area, including Nguyen Hue, into a walking quarter, according to a document from the city government.

The facility on Ton Duc Thang Street will run from Nguyen Hue Street to the Ba Son Shipyard and is one of the eight underground parking lots the city plans to build in the coming years.

The Department of Zoning and Architecture will be responsible for making the construction plan of the facility for submission to the city government for consideration.
