HCM City Research and Development Institute established

On September 17, the HCM City People�s Committee announced decisions to form the city�s Research and Development Institute and appoint its leaders. The Standing Vice Secretary of the HCM City Party Unit Nguyen Van Dua and the Chairman of the municipal People�s Committee Le Hoang Quan attended the event.

 

The HCM City Research and Development Institute was formed from the merger of the city government�s Economics Institute and the Social Studies Institute and the Department of Zoning and Architecture�s Construction and Zoning Institute.

 

Its main functions are to conduct research on socio-economic and urban environment issues, advise the HCM City government on annual and long-term strategies and policies and measures for such issues, organize an information network to forecast development trends serving for the city�s State management and policy-making process, consult and provide related services at the request of people and organizations, and open training courses on such problems for leaders of State agencies and businesses.

 

Chairman Quan also announced personnel decisions for the institute.

 

Nguyen Trong Hoa, director of the Department of Zoning and Architecture, was named director of the institute. Three deputy heads of the Economics Institute � Dinh Son Hung, Nguyen Van Quang and Nguyen Thieng Duc � and deputy head of the Social Studies Institute, Nguyen Thi Hau, were appointed as deputy heads of the institute.
