City aims to stabilize price, control inflation in remaining months

City aims to stabilize prices, control inflation in remaining months

 

The HCM City government assigned relevant agencies to impose strict sanctions on any one who has speculated on goods or started releasing false rumors in order to boost prices.

 

The Department of Industry and Trade is asked to regularly control the market in order to discover and fine traders who sell goods at higher prices, especially those in manufacturing or trading 14 main consumer goods.

 

The department will cooperate with the Institute of Economics to compile a plan on wholesale and retail and supply of the main consumer goods during Tet (lunar new year) 2009, and make a report on businesses� difficulties in capital, bank interest and foreign currency exchange rates, and collaborate with the Tax Bureau to advise the city government on measures to tighten control of prices of main consumer products.

 

The Department of Finance will tighten control of cost estimates for public services and products at the request of the State, review the auction plans and costs of State-funded or State-subsidized products and services, and guide traders of main consumer commodities on the procedures to register and list the selling prices as ruled by law.

 

The Department and the HCM City Tax Bureau will instruct manufacturers and traders to eliminate unreasonable fees and re-calculate the production costs in order to have a reasonable selling price, and inspect saving regular spending at State agencies and organizations.

 

The department will collaborate with the State Treasury to tighten supervision of public spending at State-owned agencies and businesses, especially for meetings, equipment purchases and basic construction investment, and resolutely abolish spending for unreasonable purposes; and with the Department of Planning and Investment to cut down State investment in accordance with the Government�s order.

 

The Department of Investment will make a list of State-funded projects to be halted in 2008 and a report on the investment, capital disbursement, manufacturing and trading of businesses, and advise the municipal People�s Committee on solutions to boost production and maintain growth.

 

The Departments of Construction and Finance will propose measures to manage prices of construction materials and to develop distribution to ensure supply resources at reasonable prices.

 

The Department of Health will check pharmacies and strictly fine those violating regulations on medicine supply and prices, and announce the list of pharmacies meeting good pharmacy practice (GPP) standards.

 

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will ensure food safety and hygiene at wholesale markets, markets and supermarkets.

 

The Institute of Economics will advise the city government on solutions to maintain prices and prevent sudden price rises.

 

The Department of Tax will strengthen inspection on tax and prices in line with instructions of the General Bureau of Tax.

 

The Customs Bureau and the city�s Border Police will strengthen the fight against goods smuggling and trade fraud, tighten control of import and tax evasion and boost customs declarations in order to create favorable conditions for importers and exporters, especially those that import input materials for production.

 

The State Treasury and relevant agencies will boost capital disbursement and payment for basic construction works and tightly supervise the abidance of regulations on State budget saving and anti-wastefulness.

 

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with relevant agencies will continue to carry out support policies for policy and poor households.
