Four companies will organize a gala dinner in HCM City on April 30 for those people born on the Liberation Day, April 30, 1975.
Saigontourist Holding Co., PepsiCo Vietnam, and Kinh Do Corp. give US$60,000 in total, while Saigon Beer Alcohol and Beverage Corp. donates some US$6,200 to help organize the “Saigon – When I Was Thirty” party in Van Thanh Park.
Ho Hung Van, deputy general director of Saigontourist, told reporters that the party would be held from 6:00 to 9:00pm, and would also feature various recreational activities. These include a documentary film about the historic day of April 30, 1975, folk games, and boat racing, he said at a press conference held at Van Thanh Park.
This gala dinner will have about 5,000 people who were born on the Liberation Day, their relatives and diplomatic corps, Van said, adding “now we already have a list of 2,000 people who were born on that day.”
According to Van, those who were born on the Liberation Day and who are living and working in HCM City and other provinces, including those who are residing abroad, can take part in this gala dinner with one of their relatives free of charge.
Those from other provinces will be given free air tickets from Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines, while those currently staying overseas they will get air tickets from Vietnam Airlines with a 50% discount.
In this gala dinner, Kinh Do will present a birthday cake five meters high and 5.5 tons in weight. The confectionery maker also wants to earn a Vietnam-style Guinness record for the cake.
Le Phung Hao, deputy general director of Kinh Do Corp., said 150 specialists and workers will work in 72 hours, with 5,500 kilograms of raw materials, to make this cake. The total cost is about VND300 million.
