The biggest national flag of Vietnam, with the size of 60m x 30m, will be flown in the air in HCM City by three balloons to celebrate the 30th anniversary of South Vietnam liberation and national reunification.

The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 30, and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on May 1 and 2 in Thong Nhat Stadium and Phu Tho Stadium in District 11. The flag, with the theme Vietnam, my country, will also be flown in Vung Tau and Bien Hoa cities on April 29 and 30.

The flag has an area of 1,800 m2 with 60m in length and 30m in width. These numbers have symbolic meanings: 30 is symbolic for 30 years of South Vietnam liberation and national reunification (1975-2005), 60 symbolizes 60 years of the foundation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2005), and 1,800 represents 18 Hung kings, the founders of Vietnam.

The HCM City-based Chien Thang Co. has asked Mai Huong, a tailor in Hanoi, in Hanoi who successfully made the Genius Flag for the Hung kings festival, to make the flag. Huong cooperated with Phuc Hoa sewing shop in Van O Hamlet, Van Lam District, Hung Yen Province, to do the job.
