HCM City targets 12-12.5% GDP growth in 2007

 

The HCM City People�s Committee expects to achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 12-12.5% next year in comparison with this year�s target of 12%.

 

State budget revenue, crude oil excluded, will be 14% higher than the expected figure in 2006. The total capital mobilization for investment will reach VND70 trillion, an increase of 12.9% from this year.

 

The city will continue to encourage the participation of all individuals and organizations in social activities; strengthen State management capacity and expand autonomy for cultural, healthcare, educational and sport organizations.

 

The quality of activities in education, healthcare, sport, labor, social affairs, television and radio, vocational and talented student training will be further improved.   

 

Current social programs such as reducing crimes; drug abuse and prostitution; building charitable houses for the poor and policy families; and training skills and providing jobs for former drug users will be expanded.

 

The city reported a 10.5% GDP growth rate in the first half of this year. It will try to boost economic growth in the second half to achieve the year�s growth target of 12%.
