HCMC to strengthen cultural exchanges with Romania

On the afternoon of March 20, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang received the Romanian art troupe Donia Gorjului, Gorj province (Romania) on a visit to Vietnam.

The Romanian art troupe Donia Gorjului is the first ever of Romania to perform in Vietnam after the victory of struggle against France in 1955. Its tasks are to preserve, maintain and introduce cultural values of Romania through musical performances, traditional dance, Calusari dance (included in UNESCO’s world cultural heritage), and folk songs imbued with Romanian cultural identities.

The tour to Vietnam of Romanian art troupe Donia Gorjului is one of the practical activities under the cultural cooperation program between Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism  and Romania Ministry of Culture (2016-2018) signed by Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Romania on the official visit to Vietnam of Romanian Prime Minister in June 2016.

Mr. Huynh Canh Mang expressed his delight at receiving the Romanian delegation in the context of well-developed Vietnam-Romania cooperation relation, especially after the official visit to Vietnam of Romanian Prime Minister in June 2016. Mr. Mang thanked Romanian people for their big support for Vietnam in the national liberation process, saying Romania has actively cooperated with Vietnam in fields of economy, education, art, etc. in the process of the latter’s national construction. He expressed his hope that through this visit, the cultural-art cooperation between both countries will be deepened and tightened.

Representative of Donia Gorjului and Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Valeriu Arteni emphasized: “Vietnam and Romania have been strengthening cooperation in fields of politics, economy but not ignoring cultural cooperation. Culture is Romania’s soul and Vietnam always preserves its national cultural values. I believe that both countries’ relation will be tightened through cultural exchange programs”.
